MD Dawlish Warren
Just to the east of the quaint town of Dawlish, lies Dawlish Warren. With such a name, was it ever a warren? It does not matter. This patch of sand beside the sea, is a lovely place to visit. Many people take their holidays here. Some returning year after year, to enjoy it’s beauty.
Children build sand castles in defiance of the in-coming tide. Many generations have tried, and no matter how much digging, and re-building, that goes on, the tide always wins. But then, it is who’s castle lasts the longest, wins too.
The screams of the Gulls, the smell of the sea, and the shining Sun. What a place to be. Amazing.
The Sand Castle
Children grin as the tide receeds
The sea as green, as blue
A Sands revealed, fulfills their needs
To build a castle, proud and new
Digging spades, begin in haste
For the sea will, return, sooner than late
Towers of sand,are evenly spaced
Behind a moat, and walled estate
Building continues, defences are set
Sand piled high, as height will allow
Quick,a flag on the tower, sea’s not ‘ere yet
It’s complete, please take a bow
The tide creeps closer, h’mm will it stand
Defences breached, a wall has give way
Sea between toes, repair it with some sand
Hectic activity, may just save the day
A look out reparts, large waves are in view
Panic ashore, could this be it
Much chatter goes on, “What can we do”
There is no time, to dig a new pit
A wave crashes in, sewwps all aside
“Oh no, it’s gone, but do not be sad”
The challenge was fun, feels good inside
Father’s asleep,”Come on, let’s bury Dad!”.
