It is not normally the policy of this website, to cover local political issures. However, the ongoing saga of the closure of the airport, cannot fail to attract our attention.

It would seem in modern times, that a City as large as Plymouth, needs good travel links. It is essential, for business and tourist trade, to be able to gain access to this part of Devon.

It is therefore hoped, that a permanent closure, can be avoided.

Reported in the Herald, 16th March 2013. Oliver Colville MP, advised, that he had written to both the Sutton Harbour Company and Plymouth City Council, reqesting details of the value of the lease for the Airport land. He further advised, in answer to the reader's question, that he had not received a reply from either party. Why?

Reported in local media.

Viable, a group interested in buying Plymouth Airport, have put in a bid for it's purchase, to Plymouth City Council. A response to the offer is now awaited.

Mystic Devon comment.

This is good news. A positive response will be good for the city and West Devon. Plymouth can no longer afford to be left behind in the modern world.

Reported by local media.

Fly Plymouth, are making progress with their aim of re-opening the city airport.

note. This is good news. It would good to hear however, support of this project by Plymouth City Council and locals Members of Parliament, all of which have gone quiet on the matter.

According to media, a decision on the future of Plymouth Airport, could be made shortly.

With the city’s far from satisfactory road and rail communications, the re-opening of the city airport, would give the city a welcome boost.

For both business and commercial use, the benefits of an airport, are enormous.
