Foresters Arms - Plympton St Maurice

The history of this old Inn, is probaly one of the most chilling in the county. Before becoming an Inn, it once was a place for holding prisoners awaiting trial by the court in the Guildhall next door. There was a doorway from the Foresters which led into the entrance to the Guildhall. There was, I understand, another connecting door into the property on the other side of the Inn, whcih was the Police station.

Those found guilty, of their crime, some of whcih were just for stealing a loaf of bred, were hanged out in the back yard. There is a story however, that the actual place of execution, is now the ladies toilet.

With such a history, there is no doubt many stories of paranormal activity. On a visit, a few years ago, much was indeed picked up by pschics.

Once all the merriment of a Saturday night fades away, the atmosphere changes completely, when the place is returned to it's "older" residents.
