EXE ESTUARY
In the early morning, travelling by train along the South Devon coast, the arrival of the dawn over the Exe estuary is a lovely sight. As the light gradually gains strength to push the night away, life on the estuary wakens too.
As the sun rises above the eastern horizon, the sea reflects the light as to mirror its arrival, To greet another day.
The Cautious Dawn
Rising gently, in golden beams
The star of birth, lights this planet’s whirl
Earth yawns, stretches, free from screams
Greets the dawn as a cautious pearl
Infinite realms, in time of sorts
In quest of love, by stepping stones
Light of hope encased in secure forts
Found in gold and crystal domes
All dawns of the universe pleasure
Guide to those in lessons tread
No progress made, no stick of measure
The dawn will guide, it is said.
