PEW TOR

This impressive granite Devon Tor, rises gradually from Plaster Down, near the old West Devon town of Tavistock. A relative easy climb, the view from the top is excellent, providing you avoid the mist.

The Tor, like all, has been there many thousands of years, and one can only imagine what events it has witnessed over time. Now it sleeps, quiet as the days pass by, with only the wind to play a hollowing tune.

The Pew Tor Dartmoor

Rugged Tor, I ask thee
As I climb thy windswept slopes
Is a past upon thee
And in future hopes

Rocks of thoughts, in timeless mode
Captured all to memory
For it is true, thy are old
In tune with life’s sensory

As you rise above the Plaster Down
To face the wind so brave
Look say I, to the nearby town
Where mortal lives enslave

So then, my friend of timeless ash
Be there for all to see
In sun that dries and rains that lash
Out live the pain of man’s debris.
