Borringdon Hall - Plympton

Post by Ray » Tue Jan 31, 2012 1:32 pm

Situated just north of the village of Colebrook, nr Plympton, The old hall is reached by a ttee lined driveway leading from the road. The Hall, now a hotel, was formally the home of the Parker family, before they moved to Saltram House two miles away on the Plym estury. Constructed, mainly during the Tudor period, the Hall has a history of stories of ghosts. The television programme, Most Haunted, have carried out an investigation here.

Who is the woman, who glides across the main lobby holding a candle, and just disappearing through the wall? I witnessed, in the first floor function room, a gentleman leaning against the wall suddenly being throun on the floor. When I went to his aid, he picked himself up and said that he felt a hand come from behind him, through the wall, landing on his sholder pushing him to the ground. He then said "I'm off out of here" and left at great speed.

On another visit to the Hall, I was in the company of Cornish Psychi Medium, Carringto Marshal, who communicate with a young girl called Mary, in the room behind the lounge. Mary explained that she had worked in service at the Hall, about two centuries ago. She me she mentioned that there were mainly othrs like her, still working there.

Such stories are many, but just to visit Borringdon Hall, or even stay there, is well worth it. But bewar, you just don't know who will be standing next to you.
