THE PYTHAGOREAN SOCIETY

PRESENTS

HOLY WELLS OF CORNWALL with Helen Fox

There is a saying “There are more Saints in Cornwall than there is in Heaven”. Maybe it is true but there are lots of towns, villages, streets and Holy Wells named after saints.

Helen’s interest has been the Holy Wells, many of which have remained all over the county. There are fewer of them in Devon after the invasions of Anglo Saxons and the Romans, who got no further that the River Tamar.

Helen will talk a little of the history of these times, but mainly concentrate on the stories and legends of the saints themselves and their lives. There are thought to be over 400 wells and springs in Cornwall and Helen has visited over 200 with many more to discover.
