Unity News! Sept/Oct

Post by PNH&HC » Tue Sep 01, 2015 3:33 pm

Message from the Chairman

August has been a fairly quiet time at the Centre due to the normal holidays etc but we are well rested and ready to go again as Autumn approaches.

We had a very successful Taster Day with lots of people coming in to enjoy treatments and readings. It was lovely to see some new faces at the Centre too, so a big welcome to all our new friends. It might be a case of ‘watch this space’ where Taster Days are concerned! These have been run for many years but we thought that perhaps they might be due for a bit of a ‘face lift’. We have a few thoughts and changes in mind but if you have any ideas how you would like to see this fundraising event work for both therapists/healers and customers then please get in touch, we would be delighted to have your input.

A date for your diary - October 26th sees our big 35th Celebration party – everyone is welcome so please come along and join in the event. We hope to have people who remember the ‘old’ days at Lipson Road (or before!!) and new supporters too as without you we wouldn’t still be here. We hope to have some ‘live’ music and a light buffet so please pop in to help us celebrate and be proud of what we do.

I’d also like to invite you to stay on after the celebrations for our Annual General Meeting which starts, 7 for 7.30pm. This is open to all and is your chance to be part of Unity House. We also have a vacancy on the Management Committee so if you would like to become more involved, or if you would like a chat to find out more, please give me a call on 07980 581177.

I look forward to seeing you soon
Blessings
Robert Parkins, Chairman

THERAPIST PROFILE

Reiki – With a Difference! By Deborah Penprase

I have been interested in complementary therapies for over 20 years, both as a client and therapist, and I have personally felt the benefit of this particular path. In 1995 I qualified as a Reflexologist but nowadays concentrate on my work as a Reiki therapist and meditation teacher.

I took a 12 month training in Kum Nye (Tibetan Yoga) at The Karuna Institute in Devon. The training took place over a series of weekly silent retreats, one to one and group meetings with my teacher. The depth of enquiry during this training was profound and this has greatly influenced my Reiki practice.

I completed my Reiki training in 2011 and Kum Nye in 2014. I offer a unique Reiki experience due to my Kum Nye training, finding that the two modalities influence and complement each other. My meditation practice enables me to be present, when with clients, and offers a safe, calming space for full relaxation to occur.

I was fortunate to find an exceptional Reiki Master who gave me one to one training and encouraged me to be open and work intuitively. I regularly meet with my Reiki Master and return to Karuna for Kum Nye retreats. I continue to learn and seek advice from those who taught me to ensure I offer my clients the best treatment possible.

If you would like to book an appointment for a Reiki treatment or for more information, please contact me: 0758 149 0012 or email: d.penprase1@gmail.com

ASTROLOGY CORNER

Welcome to the Sept/Oct 2015 edition of Astrologer’s Corner.

In April & September each year there are dates when day and night are of equal length – the equinoxes. In 2015, 23rd September marks the autumn equinox – when the Sun enters Libra. The spring or vernal equinox occurs when the Sun enters Aries. Such ingress charts can be used for predicting events in a given year – especially in so-called Mundane Astrology which deals with world events such as the fortunes of countries and their governments. Traditionally, eclipses are also considered significant in predicting the fates of nations – especially if a solar eclipse (a special case of a New Moon/Sun conjunct Moon), or a Lunar Eclipse (a special case of Full Moon/Sun opposing Moon) aligns with sensitive points in a national chart.

September 2015 will see two eclipses – a solar eclipse on 13th and a lunar one on 28th – so if you were born on or around these dates, you may feel the tensions of these phenomena more than most. Throughout September, Jupiter and Neptune are in opposition – good for spiritual pursuits – but beware of gambling or investments that seem too good to be true!

Between 12th and 17th October there are a number of powerful alignments that may affect Librans born around these dates. Uranus opposes the Sun on 12th – energizing with impatience. Mars, Jupiter & Pluto also boost energy, enthusiasm and drive. But the gentler energies of Venus & Neptune are evident from 17th, and at Halloween Venus & Mars are conjoined - bringing some emotional warmth before the onset of winter.

There is a Plymouth Astrology Group meeting on Wednesday 16th September at Unity House, starting at 7.30pm (see What’s On). You are very welcome to join us, all levels of understanding of Astrology from beginner to advanced, just come with an open mind and an interest in Astrology.
