The Phantom Chopper
A story originates from the 1920a’s and 30;s in V ictory Street,Keyham, about the sound of someone chopping wood, in the night.
The sound of chopping happened mainly in the winter months, and ironically enouth, from the loft area of some houses. The origins of the chopping noise, were never traced, so the mystery remains unsolved to this day.
The houses were constructed around about 1900. Before that date, the area was grassland. History of long ago, suggests, that a battle took place here, between English soldiers and raiding Vikings. No evidence of this can be found however.
It is speculated, that Keyham,is one of the most haunted areas of Plymouth.Maybe other stories are known to support this.
