The Portwrinkle Donkey

Post by Ray » Thu Aug 14, 2014 5:38 pm

Back in the 1930's, Will, a local farmer from the nearby village of Crafthole, used to own a Donkey. The Donkey was quite old, and blind in one eye. Will, used the old Donkey, to carry seaweed from the beach at sleepy Portwrinkle, up a narrow lane to his fields on top of the cliff top.

Local tales say, that when not employed carrying seaweed, the old donkey used to stand guard at the entrance to the lane, allowing no one to pass, unless they gave him a sweet.

Legend has it, thay although the donkey has long departed, may still be seen in the light of a Full Moon, standing guard over his lane.
