MD Buckland Abbey – Near Yelverton.

This old Abbey, former home of Sir Francis Drake, and now in the care of the National Trust, has many tales of being haunted. Such an old building, no doubt, will play host to the ghosts of past occupants.

Details of actual documented sightings however, remain sketchy. ,but some encounters have been mentoned in folklore. It os said, that an old lady in a long blue gown appears in front of people, only to dis-appear again with the click of her fingers.

On Nowember 10th 2013, a part of school children visited the Abbey. Reports were made, that some children felt someone, or something touch their hads, as they walked through the Hall. One child being locked in a toilet without reasonable explainations. Vivid imaginations, maybe, but then maybe not.

Legend predicts, that if Drake’s drum, on display at the Abbey, starts to beat, the nation is in threat of invasion. One must aks therefore, who will be the drummer?

Was the old painting, thought to be a self portrait of Dutch artist, Rembrant, an original? For many years, the painting has been displayed in the Aby, for many years, and no doubt, has attracted many sticky fingers and chewing gum over that period. Experts have now confirmed that it is an original, wotth millions of pounds.

Makes you think!
