The Walkhampton Inn - Walkhampton - Dartmoor - Devon
Posted: Mon May 27, 2013 12:50 pm
This lovely old Inn, is situated in the village of Walkhampton, within the Dartmoor National Park. The villages of Yelverton and Horrabridge are nearby.
A year or two back, a visit to the Inn proved interesting. It had been reported, that diners in one part of the lounge, were subject to some sort of paranormal activity. From time to time, objects moved on tables, unaided, and packets of tomato ketchup etc, would fly across the room.
On investigation, it was found, that the former cottage was once the home of an elderly lady, and it would appear, she did not take to kindly, that all these strangers, were sitting in her lounge.
Contact was made with this lady, who had passed away many years before, and it was suggested to her, that it may be reasonable that she should move to the light. This suggestion, however, was not received to well, and a candle flew off the table. After some discussion, it was agreed, that she should remain in the cottage, but would not upset the customers.
The Inn offers a friendly service, a selection of good pub grub, and maybe best of all, Jail Ale, or is it Gaol?
The Mystic Devon Team would like to say, that althought they seem to spend a lot of times in Inns, it is only for research purooses only
