Port Isaac North Cornwall - The Fisherman

`MC Port Isaac North Cornwall

There is possibly nothing better, than to decend the hill into Port Isaac, at 6 a.m. on a sunny summer’s morning. This quaint olf fishing village, remains quite much as it always was, except for a few tourist type outlets which is common in most Cornish holiday venues.

The village is indeed scenic, with hills surrounding it, and a beach looking across a quiet inlet. Fishing is still part of village life, and there is no mistaking the smell of salt in the air.

The surfing beach of Polzeath is next door and there is various places to stay is the locality. The village has recently become more well known, with the success of the impressive, Port Isaac Fisherman’s Friends.

This village is well worth a visit.

The Fisherman

Dawn breaks, a boat comes home
All is well, the night now gone
Gulls cry, they are not alone
Morning sings, it’s gentle song

Dear Sally, she waits upon the shore
Her eyes awake, with a love so clear
A night of dreams, in love
and more
Safe is John, there is no fear

Fine indeed, the catch went well
Mackerel in plenty, to the gunnel fill
A smile in his eyes, there is much to tell
As eyes do meet, in the morning still

They shall eat well today, I tell you this
In the cottage, past the sand
A gentle hug, and tender kiss
A warmth of love, held hand in hand

‘neath the cliff, whispers the breeze
In cottages and lanes, that spiral and stair
Life and time, stands at ease
For those in love, is true and fair.
