The China Fleet Country Club - Saltash - Cornwall

For a ghost folklore tale, a modern county club may appear an unusual choice. Teh China Fleet has a beautiful location on the banks of the river Tamar. It has excellent sporting facilities, and offers first clas function and hotel facilities. The is always a warm and friendly welcome here.

With the kind permission of the management, it was interesting to attend a paranormal investigation. The areas of the club covered, were the barn, now a health and beauty centre, and the old Farmhouse, now used as a resturant and function suite.

The barn was indeed interesting. Two ghosts, or spirits, were located by the team. One was of a teenage girl called Polly, who had lived in the Saltash area some centuries before, along with an older man from the same period. It was establised, that the two were linked. Unknown to the team, staff had reported seeing a figure of a man dressed in old fashioned clothes on the first floor. In addition, staff had also reported the smell of an old log fire on the ground floor, which was totally unexplained. It was ascertained by the investigators, that the man had in fact killed Polly, and that both were reluctant to move on, not sue of the consiquencies. Eventually agreed to move on to a better place.

In the farmhouse, the ghosts of two dear ladies, who has, it appeared, been there since the building was a working farm many years previous. They too were asked if they would like to move on. This offer was declined due to the fact they liked it there and they enjoyed watching what was going on there these days. And so they stayed. If you ever visit the old farmhouse, it may be worth keeping an eye out for them.

With the fabulous golf course and Spa and sports facility, the club may be a good base to explore the folklore of Cornwall, and say hello to the locals too.
