Sidmouth

Sidmouth, a coastal resort in the South East of the county, is really one of those places that time forgoy. A good job too. It still retains its quaint Victorian charm, relaxed and totally chilled out.

There can be nothing better than to take a stroll along the beach at sunset, on a warm summer’s evening, with a gentle breeze reminding you that you are still with this world.

There are many places in which you may stay, to enjoy the delights of the town. Comfortable and at peace, life really does, “Just pass you by” Until the arrival of the Sidmouth Folk Festival.

The Sidmouth Folk Festival

Yo ho me boys, give that box a squeeze
With fiddles primed, we aim to please
Fellows dance, a nine step Morris
Then a ballad, from dear old auntie Doris
Holding a pint, with a thumb in his ear
The Vicar does a chant, but what, is not clear
From around the world, they come to sing
Some cool dudes, just do their own thing
Drums do a beat, to keep you on your feet
If pacemakers can’t make it, just take a seat
A blow of the pipes, is Jock aright?
The wind and a kilt, it’s not, but it might
Lancashire clogs, tap heal to toe
The bloke at the back, is a Dentist you know
Promenade is busy, people all ways
It good to see faces, so happy these days
Evening draws on, the end is now near
Song, dance and music, again here next year.
