Paignton
Paignton has managed to retain it’s Victorian charm, while embracing modern trends and ideas. In the summer, when it is full of visitors enjoying their holiday, or in winter, quieter, more peaceful, after the party feeling, the energy is very pleasing.
It is good to stroll along the sandy beach, even the old pier. To hear the excited voices of children playing on the beach, Or to watch people in the winter of their lives, enjoying the views seaward with the ships at anchor in the bay. The crash of waves upon the shore drawing their breath to come again. Paignton is a worthy place to visit at any time of year.
The Ebbing Tide
Clear waters that cleanse the rocky coast
Jig and sway, each lunar phase
In mind and body, it creates the most
A life’s fair opera, runs and plays
Swinging moods, drift like tidal craft
Glide to and throw, in posh desire
Lapping gently ‘against legs of piers
Nature’s light, in sound retire
Ebbing tide, where do thou go
In such a way to say goodbye
As lives of gentle loves and trials
In retreat, you will return I know.
