Unity News! Jan/Feb 2016

Post by PNH&HC » Mon Jan 04, 2016 4:47 pm

UNITY NEWS

We would like to wish all our supporters, volunteers, healers and anyone connected to the Healing Centre a very happy and healthy 2016.

We have lots to look forward to this year – planning two fairs again so watch this space for details on the May Summer Fair. Plus we are ‘revamping’ the Taster Days giving them a new look and more opportunities for you to sample therapy sessions.

2015 was still a year of great change for people and places, not all bad changes either and PNH&HC was no exception. We have welcomed a variety of new therapists to our ‘family’ with additional new therapies for you to benefit from.

The Centre itself will hopefully be getting a bit of a Spring Clean this year with Room 5 finally getting its long overdue make-over and we are hoping a few tins of paint will ‘spill out’ in other directions as well to give it a bit of a face-lift. The upstairs bathroom is also on the list of requirements to update.

We also want to improve the small garden area in the car-park to make it look more inviting and attractive. This is a surprisingly big task – trying to remove the existing tree stumps is no easy feat!! Once they are out we can plant more appropriate items so any budding gardeners out there? Please get in touch!

Blessings
Robert Parkins,
Chairman

NEWS & STORIES

Christmas Fair – THANK YOU – to everyone who supported this event, stall holders, volunteers and guests – you have helped us to raise over £300 to help the Centre, so a big thank you. Morrison’s very generously donated 6 raffle prizes too and even Santa beneifitted from a relaxing Reiki with the lovely Deborah.

The Pythagorean Society – we are very pleased to annouce that, following on from the sad loss of Claire Strong in 2015, this popular group will be meeting again this year. The first meeting is in February (see events section) and is open to all, they have a wide range of topics (it’s not all maths and set squares!!) so please come along and support them, they have an interesting selection of talks lined up for this year.

ASTROLOGY CORNER
Welcome to the Jan/Feb 2016 edition of Astrologer’s Corner.

With a New Year looming but with the troublesome Uranus-Pluto and Saturn-Neptune squares still hanging over world affairs for several months to come I can’t promise 2016 will be any less difficult than 2015 – but for a change I would like to focus on a couple of unusual individuals – brothers in fact.

Jeremy Corbyn was born in the UK on 26/5/1949. His Gemini Sun and Mercury have stressful links with Saturn & Chiron. He is a man with a strong sense of mission and duty – irrespective of the suffering it may cause him. His stubborn Taurus Moon is both toughened and made idealistic by links from Mars and Neptune. With Uranus keyed into his Path of Destiny he will go his own way – whatever others may say.

His lesser-known brother Piers was born on 10/3/1947. Piers is an astro-physicist whose ideas on climate-change fly in the faces of the majority of climate scientists. His Piscean Sun and Mercury are stressed by Uranus – compelling him to speak out about his ideas – no matter how many people disagree with him. His brooding Scorpio Moon is at odds with Saturn – suggesting emotional sensitivity and hurt – but he will battle on. Mars squares his Path of Destiny – showing strife is ever-present. Piers believes that the concept of man-made global warming is a conspiracy of politicians, big business and dishonest scientists – which plays on a dysfunctional human need for guilt-tripping and hysteria. He claims the world has actually been cooling for the last ten years and points to the Sun as the main driver of climatic fluctuations. With only 4% of atmospheric CO2 emissions caused by mankind (and more than this caused by termites!), Piers says that people who believe man-made CO2 is causing climate-change must be deranged. For more on his extraordinary ideas have a look at his website: Weather-Action.

Whatever you may think of the Corbyn brothers – they have the courage of their convictions!

THERAPIST PROFILE

Introducing a BRAND NEW therapy to the Healing Centre with our very own Maz Williams – THAI YOGA MASSAGE. Maz has a special offer for Jan/Feb.

Thai yoga massage - full 2 hour sessions by student therapist at discount price

What is Thai Yoga Massage ? Thai Yoga Massage is a truly wonderful experience for both giver and receiver, as energy blockages are released, boundaries dissolve and deep healing occurs in a space of presence and meditation. In a unique way, Thai Massage blends elements of acupressure, Yoga, reflexology, movement meditation, energy and breath work.

What happens in a session? Thai Yoga Massage is done on a firm futon on the floor, you need to wear loose clothes, like yoga or gym wear. Typically a session lasts between 1 - 2 hours, but can also be longer if needed.

Maz explained “I use my thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply a combination of acupressure, gentle rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations and assisted yoga stretches. I will be using my bodyweight instead of strength and a steady and meditative rhythm, Thai Yoga Massage looks and feels like a graceful dance between giver and receiver.”

Maz is currently a student at the Devon Thai Massage School, due to complete her exams in March 2016.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my session with Maz, who soon made me feel at ease. I felt energized yet relaxed and calm after. I would highly recommend this.” LB, Plymouth

Through January and February Maz will be offering 2-hour sessions for only £40. Full price after training for Thai Yoga Massage is £60 for 2 hours. Sessions available every Thursday and Friday call Maz Williams on 01752 298705 to arrange your session.

SPIRITUAL HEALERS

Spring will see the final stages of last year’s trainee healers taking their assessments so we wish them all the best of luck and look forward to welcoming them as Unity Healers.

If you would like to learn about natural healing and train to become a healer, there is a 12 month course, run by Unity Healers, which starts in March. You need to be able to attend monthly meetings (the third Sunday morning in the month) and to have 4 friends willing to be ‘case studies’ for you.

The course is in two parts and costs £50 each. If you would like to know more about this please contact Margaret Jenkins via the Centre, 01752 770048
