Dartmeet Dartmoor - Gome the Ghome

MD Dartmeet – Dartmoor – Devon.
One of the most popular places on Dartmoor, for local people and visitors, Dartmeet offers a charming atmosphere in which to rest and enjoy it’s beauty. Here, is where the East Dart and West Dart meet, hense the name.
In summer, when the sun is overhead, to sit on a granite boulder in the river, and just feel the energy, is amazing. Time, maybe, to take in a Cream Tea, or just grab yourself and ice cream, topped with real Devon clotted cream, adds to the feel of the place.
Just up the hill is a little shop, selling ornaments. Maybe this guy is one.

Gome the Ghome

On Dartmoor there lived a Gnome,
A little stone house, was his home.
Silently sitting, on a stump of a tree,
Minding his own business, all would agree.
Many stay, and pass the day,
Talking to a Gnome! What can we say.
Then one morning, folk did spy,
Gome the Gnome had gone, Bye bye.

Concerned and anxious, at this stage,
The poor chaps been stolen, I would wage.
They searched high, and then low,
Not a trace, where did he go?

Time passed by, without a sign,
On the moor, even online.
Then one day, the plod walked in,
“Is this ‘ere yer Gnome?” he says with a grin.

There was Gome, sat with a smile,
A hic up or two, he rested a while.
He looked quite drunk, could this be true?
In the Tavistock Inn, he had one or two.

Back in Dartmeet, the Dart still flows,
Gome now sits, with a little red nose.
With a wink of an eye, and a little groan,
Gome the Gnome, did roam, but home..
