Spirituality and Education

The determination that all state schools may not teach spiritual or religious issues is a direct contradiction for all Polynesian people brought up in a culture system that promotes and emphasizes a leadership of man by forces beyond him-self. The fear that one religion might outstrip the other or that people will be drilled in one dimensional concept, dose not exist in Maoridom. People are permitted and encouraged to accept the reality of a God, and to take part in any series of karakia (prayer) that might be in progress. The certainty to the Maori is that Tane, the giver of Life, has given life to all people and to all things, and following upon this gift of life, all activities performed by people will be subject to spiritual influences.

Only when we have a religion that is a closed system that cannot tolerate the existence of other systems do we have to legislate controls.
Closed systems are by nature controlling and are threatened by open systems. Open systems are not threatened by closed systems because all are allowed existence.
When we legislate our spirituality, our children do not have the opportunity to learn that they are part of the universe, that they and all things have been given life by a creator, and that there is some-thing bigger than them selves.

Spirituality is easy! It’s religions that cause problems!

The aforementioned can be related to actual happenings in most Indigenous Peoples Culture. As soon as religion is introduced there have always been problems, especially where religion has forcibly introduced it’s systems. History records that these crimes against humanity have been carried out for centuries, and are found to still exist today.

There has only ever been one God, which is Divine Love. The Law’s of creation prove beyond reasonable doubt that the energies of Divine Love and the energies of Intellectual Force cannot co-exist, Divine Love is Spiritual and positive, Force is Intellectual and negative.
