Skellig - Snowbird Wings

Post by Spiritualman » Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:42 pm

SKELLIG

I saw him in the shadows, A dust beggar, a light sweeper, Hair knotted into rat’s tails, His stare a frightful chiller.

There was something behind him, Lurking beneath his grey, cobbled suit,

Packed like a brimming suitcase, An angel wing? A secret, but I wished I knew.

With a crumbled tear shredded across his crusty face, A shield of dead, cold cobwebs, covering his sorrow,

Stitches torn and promises broken, Tosses his dreams and wishes far away.

And, as I approach him, creeping shallowly, He peers up at me, from his dusty throne,

And, sprouting like a thousand swans, Out come these beautiful, tender things.

His snowbird wings.
